The UK oil & gas industry registered a 14.7% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring an increased by 11.15% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.66% share in June 2021, recording an increase of 0.3% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.22% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK oil & gas industry in June 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 48.61% in June 2021, a 6.06% growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 22.22% share, an increase of 433.33% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 9.72%, registering a flat growth from May 2021.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 9.72%, up 16.67% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in the UK IT recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 70.97% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK oil & gas industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
BP posted 18 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a rise of 38.46% over the previous month, followed by Phillips 66 with 12 jobs and a 71.43% growth. LyondellBasell Industries with 11 IT jobs and John Wood Group with 8 jobs, recorded a 57.14% growth and a 166.67% increase, respectively, while Subsea 7 recorded a 300% an increase with 4 job postings during June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.17%, up by 8.33% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 37.5% share, a growth of 68.75% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.94% share, up 66.67% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.39%, recording a month-on-month an flat growth.
